The sequel to Fox’s “Kingsman: The Secret Service” is looking to cast Julianne Moore.
Moore is in talks for an undisclosed role in the project, but the part she is circling would apparently be for the film’s villain.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Vaughn is expected to return as director, as well as star Taron Egerton.
Moore has recently won an Oscar for “Still Alice” and was in the two part of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”
Casting an actress of Moore’s caliber in the sequel to “Kingsman” would be fantastic. Moore has received five Oscar nomination, with one win, and has had a career that includes varied work. She would be the ideal candidate to replace Samuel L. Jackson as the villain for the sequel because she brings gravitas. Gravitas that not even Sam Jackson could bring.
If these negations go well the sequel to “Kingsman” should pan out well. Not only would the addition of Moore elevate the movie, but Vaughn is apparently returning as director, so that should avoid what happened in “Kick-Ass 2.”
