Sony Moving Forward with “Dragon Tattoo” Sequel

As reported by The Wrap, Sony now has plans to move forward with a sequel to “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” The film, however, will not be an adaptation of the second book in Stieg Larsson’s “Millenium” series “The Girl Who Played with Fire.” The project will instead be an adaptation of the continuation novel “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” written after Larsson’s death by David Lagercrantz.
David Fincher, Daniel Craig, and Rooney Mara, the director and stars of “Dargon Tattoo” respectively are not expected to return. Alicia Vikander, according to rumor, is heavily favored to replace Mara in the lead role.
Vikander, who starred in this summer’s “Ex Machina” and the forthcoming “The Danish Girl,” would be an excellent get for Sony. Vikander has rapidly rising star power and is one of the most talented actresses working today.
