Sinister 2 Review

Sinister 2

Directed by Ciaran Foy

Written by C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson

Starring: James Ransone, Shannyn Sossamon, Robert Daniel Sloan, and Dartanian Sloan

A woman and her two sons (Sossamon, Sloan, and Sloan) move into an abandoned farmhouse that has been marked for death by a demon. A Sheriff’s Deputy ends up in a race against time to keep the beast from claiming the family.

The only that works in Sinister 2 is Bughuul. He works as the kind of mysterious figurehead/puppet master type character. He does not do much in the film, just kind of shows up and runs the show for the ghost kids.

Sinister 2 fails in every aspect of the movie. The plot is weak; there are a throwaway subplot and no real development of the narrative. The film is nothing more than a series of feeble jump scares. The jump scares are generic to every horror movie.

Overall, Sinister 2 is a weak horror film with the kernels of an interesting character. Sinister 2 receives 1.9/5.
